Wykham Park Farm is a mixed family farm situated just to the south of Banbury in Oxfordshire. Now in its fifth generation, the farm was originally built as a model Victorian farm in the 1850s and livestock production, together with cropping, has always been at the core of its activities.
The land stretches south from Banbury to the Sor Brook. It incorporates clay loam soils suitable for arable and asparagus production, as well as water meadows giving lush grazing for the animals. Our cropping rotation today includes wheat, barley, Oilseed Rape, grass leys as well as asparagus and a small acreage of other seasonal vegetable crops.
At one time Banbury Livestock Market was the outlet for all the “finished” cattle on the farm. However when this closed, towards the end of the 1990s, the family changed its production system to a closed beef suckler herd of commercial Aberdeen Angus X cattle, and a smaller herd of wonderful, rare breed Longhorn cattle.
